Verbo's Childrens' Care Centers
Confronting the global epidemic of abandoned, abused, and orphaned children will decidedly become a point of the Lord’s judgment concerning the quality of time spent on this planet. Verbo began its first orphanage in 1984, and now has two more under its wings. On our very best of days, we are still simply a 2nd class institution; nothing can absolutely replace the value and warmth of the nuclear family. But we do try as hard as we can to be a close 2nd.
Many of our children have come out of some extremely troubled backgrounds. The underlying feeling of rejection accompanies every child brought under our care. The orphanages in Managua and in Puerto Cabezas are located on the same property as our public/Christian schools. In Puerto Cabezas the church itself is on the same large piece of land. This proximity with other children is a very healthy factor. Orphaned and abandoned children must be raised, so they can enter into society as active, positive, members.
Creating an environment, spiritually and emotionally, conducive to children and identifying their gifts and callings is a significant part of our purpose. Happy, well-fed, educated youth is part of the fertile soil for the seeding of the gospel of today, and the destiny of the entire nation for tomorrow.
