VERBO CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES
Verbo began in the year that theologians are terming the turning point for Latin America, 1976. The Lord’s calling upon this part of the world has never ceased expanding. Verbo was fortunate to be a part of this move. For Verbo Christian Mission of Nicaragua: Spiritual Health needs to be defined from various perspectives. Verbo has no ‘corner on this market‘. But the creation (discovery) of Biblical solutions for the world today must
1) Never involve compromise with Biblical truth,
2) Still identifying the correct, pending questions of our historical time frame
Verbo began as an experiment by the Lord in response to Guatemala’s devastating earthquake of February 4th 1976. Verbo Christian Ministries has since expanded throughout Latin America and Spain, with missionary Hispanic ministry into the U.S. and Canada.
Verbo Nicaragua was founded by a small group sent out from Guatemala 25 years ago. This has grown into a number of churches, ministries, and Christian development projects. The goal, our hope, is to continue to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ in ways that are meaningful, and effective, within the state of this nation.
Nicaragua plagued with a series of wars, national disasters, political instability, and economic nosedives, might easily be considered one of the more problematic nations in the hemisphere. The second poorest country, yet known for the friendliness and warmth of the people, severe health and under-employment problems and yet statistically considered the safest in Latin America. Home to outstanding authors, poets, and painters, scattered through a nation blessed with national resources, two magnificent coast lines, 17 volcanoes, the largest fresh water island in the world, 4 distinct ethnic groups and the city of Granada sited as the oldest city in the western hemisphere.
It would seem the timing that the church might play an important, decisive role in the destiny of this nation. Stepping beyond her normally accepted boundaries, so that Christian values and principles would prove to answer the pressing questions of poverty, social need, and vision for the youth.
